Mizoram to Separately List Refugees in 2027 Census

Mizoram has decided to enumerate refugees temporarily residing in the state as part of the 2027 Census, with their details recorded separately from Indian citizens. This decision was made during a state-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena. As of August 20, Mizoram had registered 38,213 refugees, primarily from Myanmar, Manipur, and Bangladesh. The state aims to be the first in India to complete the Census 2027 exercise within the stipulated timeframe.
