Akal Takht Expels SAD Leader Over Rape Charges

The Akal Takht has expelled senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Amarjit Singh Chawla from the Khalsa Panth due to rape charges against him. Granthi Malkit Singh was also expelled for sending inappropriate messages. Both individuals face a lifetime ban from working in Sikh institutions. The decision was announced by acting Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj following an emergency meeting. The Akal Takht stressed the need for high standards of conduct in Sikh.

अकाल तख्त ने बलात्कार के आरोपों के चलते शिरोमणि अकाली दल के वरिष्ठ नेता अमरजीत सिंह चावला को पंथ से निष्कासित कर दिया है। ग्रंथी मलकीत सिंह को अनुचित संदेश भेजने के कारण भी निकाला गया है। दोनों पर सिख संस्थानों में आजीवन प्रतिबंध लगाया गया है। यह फैसला कार्यकारी जत्थेदार ज्ञानी कुलदीप सिंह गर्गज ने एक आपात बैठक के बाद सुनाया। अकाल तख्त ने सिखों में आचरण के उच्च मानकों की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
