Uttar Pradesh to Create Monkey Forests to Tackle Urban Menace

Uttar Pradesh is establishing 'Kapi Vans' (Monkey Forests) across its urban areas to address the growing monkey menace and reduce human-animal conflict. These designated areas will provide monkeys with natural habitats, including food and shelter, away from human settlements. The initiative aims to curb monkey attacks on residents, particularly in Prayagraj, where several neighbourhoods are affected. The state plans to develop these forests in all 762 urban local bodies by 2028, with 120 already completed. Measures like 'monkey-proof' waste bins and public awareness campaigns are also being implemented.

उत्तर प्रदेश बंदरों की बढ़ती समस्या और मानव-पशु संघर्ष को कम करने के लिए अपने शहरी इलाकों में 'कपि वन' (बंदर वन) स्थापित कर रहा है। इन नामित क्षेत्रों में बंदरों को मानव बस्तियों से दूर प्राकृतिक आवास, जिसमें भोजन और आश्रय शामिल हैं, प्रदान किए जाएंगे। इस पहल का उद्देश्य निवासियों पर बंदरों के हमलों को रोकना है, खासकर प्रयागराज में, जहाँ कई मोहल्ले प्रभावित हैं। राज्य की योजना 2028 तक सभी 762 शहरी स्थानीय निकायों में ये जंगल विकसित करने की है, जिनमें से 120 पहले ही पूरे हो चुके हैं। 'मंकी-प्रूफ' कचरा डिब्बे और जन जागरूकता अभियान जैसे उपाय भी लागू किए जा रहे हैं।
