Commercial vessels carrying essential commodities like wheat and corn are increasingly becoming targets in ongoing conflicts. Attacks on shipping in the Black Sea have escalated, with drone strikes impacting vessels off NATO member coasts. Russia has repeatedly bombarded Ukrainian ports, forcing Kyiv to seek alternative export routes. However, these alternative corridors, including the Danube River, have also faced increased Russian attacks, significantly raising the monthly rate of incidents. This disruption threatens global food security by jeopardizing vital grain and vegetable oil exports.
