7.22 Metre Reticulated Python Becomes Longest Wild Snake Ever Recorded

Times of India · science

A female reticulated python, named Ibu Baron, has been authenticated as the longest wild snake ever recorded, measuring 7.22 metres (23 feet 8 inches) and weighing 96.5 kilograms (213 pounds). The discovery occurred in Sulawesi, Indonesia, in late 2025. Local conservationist Budi Purwanto, wildlife guide Diaz Nugraha, and photographer Radu Frentiu were involved in documenting the snake's size. This measurement, accepted by Guinness World Records, was taken without anaesthesia due to ethical concerns. The snake's length could potentially be up to 7.9 metres when fully relaxed.
