A dramatic helicopter rescue operation took place near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, after a recreational vehicle was swept into a river by raging floodwaters. Two individuals and their three dogs were successfully airlifted to safety by the Colorado National Guard using a Black Hawk helicopter. The San Juan River experienced its highest levels in over a century, leading to evacuations across southwestern Colorado. Torrential rainfall caused widespread road closures and prompted emergency warnings, with nearly 100 National Guard personnel assisting in the rescue efforts.
