JNU Professor, Also Congress MP, Sacked Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Jawaharlal Nehru University has dismissed Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, who also serves as a Congress Lok Sabha MP, following an inquiry into sexual harassment allegations. Eleven female students had lodged complaints in May, accusing the professor of making inappropriate remarks and sexually suggestive comments during viva examinations. An internal committee investigated the complaints and recommended severe punishment, leading the university administration to terminate his services. Professor Akoijam has denied the allegations, calling it a "witch hunt" and demanding to see the evidence against him.
