Sports Ministry Grants Provisional Recognition to IUSF, AIU's Role Questioned

The Sports Ministry has granted provisional recognition to the Indian Unisports Federation (IUSF) as a National Sports Federation for university sports. Several conditions were relaxed for IUSF, including minimum existence and district-level affiliates. The IUSF now has six months to secure FISU affiliation and align its constitution with governance laws. This development casts doubt on the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), which faced criticism for administrative lapses. These included failing to submit names on time for six badminton players at the World University Games, preventing their participation.
