India's sub-4-metre SUV segment experienced a significant 22.94% year-on-year growth in September 2026, with sales reaching 1,40,340 units. The Tata Nexon emerged as the top seller with 20,456 units, narrowly ahead of the Tata Punch, which sold 20,333 units. Other strong performers included the Maruti Fronx and Brezza, showing substantial year-on-year increases. For the third quarter of 2026, the segment also saw robust growth, with the Punch leading quarterly volumes. This indicates a strong consumer demand for compact SUVs.
