Hindustan Times · india
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that no decision has been made on the proposed 11,200-MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. He assured that all concerns regarding the mega dam construction would be addressed through open dialogue and public consultation. The remarks come amid strong opposition from the indigenous Adi community, fearing displacement and loss of ancestral land and forests. The state government views the project as a strategic safeguard against China's upstream hydropower development.
