Akola Farmers Now Sign Crop Loss Panchnamas for Transparency Amid Drought

Times of India · india

Farmers in drought-hit Akola district will now sign crop-loss panchnamas prepared by revenue officials, a move aimed at increasing transparency. Previously, only village sarpanch or police patil signatures were obtained. Revenue officials are assessing damaged kharif crops, recording farmer details, crop type, and percentage of loss. Farmers like Niket Shende and Umakant expressed confidence in the new procedure, noting they can now see details being entered.
