IIIT Student Found Dead in Hostel; Students Protest Medical Support Lapses

A first-year IIIT Ranchi student, Aditya Kumar, was found dead in his hostel room on Saturday night, allegedly by suicide. This incident triggered protests by students demanding the resignation of the institute director and improvements in hostel facilities, particularly medical services. Students alleged that the on-campus ambulance lacked oxygen support and that Aditya had to be transported to a hospital without it. The institute director acknowledged the students' anger and assured an inquiry into the matter. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

IIIT रांची के प्रथम वर्ष के छात्र आदित्य कुमार को शनिवार रात उनके हॉस्टल के कमरे में मृत पाया गया, कथित तौर पर आत्महत्या से। इस घटना के बाद छात्रों ने संस्थान के निदेशक के इस्तीफे और हॉस्टल की सुविधाओं, खासकर मेडिकल सेवाओं में सुधार की मांग को लेकर विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। छात्रों ने आरोप लगाया कि कैंपस एम्बुलेंस में ऑक्सीजन सपोर्ट नहीं था और आदित्य को बिना ऑक्सीजन के अस्पताल ले जाना पड़ा। संस्थान के निदेशक ने छात्रों के गुस्से को स्वीकार किया और मामले की जांच का आश्वासन दिया। शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिया गया है।
