JNU Teachers’ Body Questions Honorary Title Given to Retired Professor
Times of India · education
The Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers’ Association (JNUTA) has raised objections to the conferment of Professor Emeritus title on retired professor P.R. Kumaraswamy. JNUTA alleges the decision bypassed proper procedures and ignored complaints seeking an inquiry into alleged recruitment and promotion irregularities. The teachers’ body stated that the honour, previously given to only 15 eminent academics, was granted despite a complaint to the Central Vigilance Commission and JNU Executive Council. JNUTA has appealed to the President of India to revoke the title and order an independent inquiry.
