West Bengal's prized hilsa fish are now being caught in Gujarat's Narmada river due to shifting environmental conditions and favourable monsoon patterns. Experts explain that hilsa, an anadromous fish, migrates to freshwater for breeding, but factors like pollution and climate change have impacted traditional areas in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Gujarat's Bharuch district, with ideal freshwater-saltwater mixing, has become a prime breeding ground.

पश्चिम बंगाल की मशहूर हिलसा मछली अब गुजरात की नर्मदा नदी में पकड़ी जा रही है। ऐसा पर्यावरण में बदलाव और अच्छे मानसून की वजह से हो रहा है। एक्सपर्ट्स बताते हैं कि हिलसा मछली अंडे देने के लिए ताज़े पानी में आती है, लेकिन प्रदूषण और जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण पश्चिम बंगाल और बांग्लादेश में उनके पारंपरिक इलाके प्रभावित हुए हैं।
