The first tranche of the India-US bilateral trade agreement is nearly finalised, with both nations working on the final details and legal drafting, according to Union Minister Piyush Goyal. India aims to operationalise the deal once it gains a competitive advantage over peer countries. While a signing timeline is yet to be set, negotiations are progressing positively, with several sticking points already resolved. The US is India's top export destination, and the trade deficit was around $34 billion in 2025-26.

केंद्रीय मंत्री पियूष गोयल के अनुसार, भारत-अमेरिका द्विपक्षीय व्यापार समझौते का पहला चरण लगभग अंतिम रूप में है। दोनों देश अंतिम विवरण और कानूनी मसौदे पर काम कर रहे हैं। भारत का लक्ष्य है कि जैसे ही उसे प्रतिस्पर्धी देशों पर बढ़त मिले, वह इस डील को लागू कर दे। हालांकि, अभी तक हस्ताक्षर की कोई समय-सीमा तय नहीं हुई है, लेकिन बातचीत सकारात्मक रूप से आगे बढ़ रही है और कई अड़चनें पहले ही दूर हो चुकी हैं। अमेरिका भारत का सबसे बड़ा निर्यात गंतव्य है, और 2025-26 में व्यापार घाटा लगभग 34 अरब डॉलर था।
