Hindustan Times · health

World Health Organization data indicates anxiety disorders are the most common mental health condition worldwide, affecting 470 million people, or 5.8 percent of the global population. Despite effective treatments, only 27.6 percent receive care due to stigma, provider shortages, and underinvestment. Clinical anxiety involves persistent fear and worry, often starting in childhood, and disproportionately impacts women. Untreated anxiety increases risks for cardiovascular disease, depression, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation.
