Egmore Museum Buildings Get Heritage Makeover

Two 18th-century buildings at Chennai's Egmore Museum, the Geology and Anthropology structures, are undergoing a ₹10 crore conservation project. The Public Works Department is restoring roofs, flooring, and walls, aiming for completion by March next year. This initiative focuses on preserving the original design and character of these historic structures. The project includes waterproofing, crack stitching, and restoration of doors and windows, ensuring the buildings' longevity while retaining their heritage appeal.

चेन्नई के एगमोर म्यूजियम की 18वीं सदी की दो इमारतें, जियोलॉजी और एंथ्रोपोलॉजी, ₹10 करोड़ की संरक्षण परियोजना के तहत जीर्णोद्धार से गुजर रही हैं। पब्लिक वर्क्स डिपार्टमेंट छतों, फर्शों और दीवारों की मरम्मत कर रहा है, जिसका लक्ष्य अगले साल मार्च तक पूरा करना है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य इन ऐतिहासिक ढांचों के मूल डिजाइन और चरित्र को संरक्षित करना है। परियोजना में वाटरप्रूफिंग, क्रैक स्टिचिंग और दरवाजों व खिड़कियों का जीर्णोद्धार शामिल है, जिससे इमारतों की विरासत अपील को बनाए रखते हुए उनकी दीर्घायु सुनिश्चित हो सके।
