Indian Kids Risking Bone Health Due To Indoor Lifestyles, Doctors Warn
Times of India · health
Doctors are warning that Indian children are developing "bankrupt" bones due to indoor lifestyles and excessive screen time, potentially leading to osteoporosis at a young age. Experts state that nearly 90% of peak bone mass is acquired by age 18, and sedentary habits prevent the necessary physical stimuli for bone development. This lack of weight-bearing exercises and outdoor play, combined with vitamin D deficiency, hinders bone density accumulation. Consequently, this generation may face skeletal issues similar to those of much older adults by their thirties.
