Drought conditions now affect 84.9% of Maharashtra, with 39 additional talukas added to the list of affected areas, bringing the total to 304 out of 358. This widespread drought impacts 25 out of 36 districts, with only Mumbai city, Mumbai Suburban, and Thane remaining unaffected. As an interim measure before Diwali, the state cabinet will provide Rs 5,000 to approximately one crore affected farmers. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the additional talukas met the drought manual's conditions for immediate relief, including fee waivers.
