The fear escalated following the death of 52-year-old para-teacher Girja Murmu, who was trampled by an elephant on Monday. Villagers report that the herd has damaged crops and are concerned about the forest department's information accuracy regarding the elephant numbers. Residents are now travelling in groups due to the unpredictable movements of the herd, which has been a recurring issue in the area.
