Adyar Residents Survey Neighbourhood's Green Cover

Residents of Adyar's Gandhi Nagar are conducting a weekend survey of their neighbourhood's trees, documenting species, dimensions, and any damage. Led by the non-profit Nizhal, the initiative aims to assess the area's green cover and identify locations for future sapling planting. Participants are trained to identify trees and assess their health, with data collected to be submitted to government authorities. This follows a similar survey in 2019 which identified approximately 65 tree species. The collected data will help strategize efforts to increase the city's green cover.

अड्यार के गांधी नगर के निवासी अपने इलाके के पेड़ों का वीकेंड सर्वे कर रहे हैं, जिसमें प्रजातियों, आयामों और किसी भी नुकसान का दस्तावेजीकरण किया जा रहा है। गैर-लाभकारी संस्था Nizhal के नेतृत्व में, इस पहल का उद्देश्य क्षेत्र के हरे-भरे क्षेत्र का आकलन करना और भविष्य में पौधे लगाने के स्थानों की पहचान करना है। प्रतिभागियों को पेड़ों की पहचान करने और उनके स्वास्थ्य का आकलन करने के लिए प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है, और एकत्र किए गए डेटा को सरकारी अधिकारियों को प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा। यह 2019 में इसी तरह के सर्वे के बाद हुआ है, जिसमें लगभग 65 पेड़ प्रजातियों की पहचान की गई थी।
