Wipro to Shut Waluj Plant; 208 Jobs Affected
Times of India · business
Wipro Enterprises will close its Waluj facility, impacting approximately 208 employees. The company cited the industry's rapid shift to LED technology and the declining viability of traditional lighting products as reasons for the closure. Rising input costs and operating overheads have also contributed to the decision, making the plant commercially unviable. While Wipro Enterprises stated it would fulfill all legal obligations, workers' representatives have called the move illegal and plan to challenge it in court, citing issues with compensation and government ratification of closure rules.
