Times of India · health

A recent study published in JAMA Network Open reveals that over one in four American adults surveyed admitted to exaggerating or fabricating symptoms to obtain antibiotics. Of the 959 adults surveyed, 268 confessed to deliberately misrepresenting their health issues. Common reasons cited include feeling very sick, believing antibiotics were the only cure, and wanting to return to work or responsibilities sooner. Many also felt doctors didn't take their complaints seriously, leading them to believe they needed to exaggerate their illness.
