Medical Colleges Charge Extra Fees For Hostel

Students admitted to private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu have complained about being charged an additional ₹8.2 lakh for mandatory residential stays. The Directorate of Medical Education has forwarded these complaints to the fee committee for action. While colleges claim the policy ensures academic continuity and discipline, parents argue they were not informed of this mandatory fee during counselling. The National Medical Commission states that hostel accommodation cannot be made compulsory for students.

तमिलनाडु में प्राइवेट मेडिकल कॉलेजों में एडमिशन लेने वाले स्टूडेंट्स ने हॉस्टल में रहने के लिए ₹8.2 लाख अतिरिक्त फीस लेने की शिकायत की है। Directorate of Medical Education ने इन शिकायतों को फीस कमेटी को आगे की कार्रवाई के लिए भेज दिया है। कॉलेज का कहना है कि इससे पढ़ाई में लगातारता और अनुशासन बना रहता है, लेकिन पेरेंट्स का कहना है कि काउंसलिंग के समय उन्हें इस फीस के बारे में नहीं बताया गया था। National Medical Commission का कहना है कि हॉस्टल को स्टूडेंट्स के लिए ज़रूरी नहीं बनाया जा सकता।
