News18 Hindi · india
India's crude oil import bill has significantly increased by over 46% in the first six months of the current fiscal year, reaching approximately ₹9.2 lakh crore. This surge is attributed to rising global crude oil prices, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US and threats to shipping in the Red Sea. In September alone, India spent over $15.4 billion on crude imports, a 46.6% jump year-on-year. The Indian basket of crude oil has become particularly expensive, with prices more than doubling compared to last year.
