Karnataka's severe drought has damaged 84,656 hectares of coconut plantations across the state, with officials warning the impact could persist for up to three years. Coconut recorded the highest crop loss among surveyed horticultural crops, valued at ₹59,259 lakh. Haasan district is the worst affected, with nearly 84,541 hectares of crop loss recorded there. Extreme heat and water scarcity disrupt flowering and fruiting, damaging roots and causing a multi-year lag for the crop.
