Sports Ministry Grants Provisional Recognition to New Body for University Sports

The Sports Ministry has granted provisional recognition to the newly-formed Indian Unisports Federation (IUSF) for the development of university sports in India. This decision comes after the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) faced criticism and a show-cause notice for administrative lapses, including issues during the World University Games. The ministry has relaxed affiliation conditions for the IUSF, which staked its claim in July. While AIU's recognition is not withdrawn due to its FISU affiliation, its future relevance is now uncertain.

खेल मंत्रालय ने भारत में विश्वविद्यालय खेलों के विकास के लिए नवगठित इंडियन यूनिस्पोर्ट्स फेडरेशन (IUSF) को अंतरिम मान्यता दे दी है। यह फैसला विश्व विश्वविद्यालय खेलों के दौरान हुई प्रशासनिक खामियों, जिसमें समस्याएं भी शामिल हैं, के लिए एसोसिएशन ऑफ इंडियन यूनिवर्सिटीज (AIU) की आलोचना और कारण बताओ नोटिस का सामना करने के बाद आया है। मंत्रालय ने जुलाई में अपना दावा पेश करने वाले IUSF के लिए संबद्धता की शर्तों में ढील दी है। हालांकि AIU की मान्यता वापस नहीं ली गई है क्योंकि वह FISU से संबद्ध है, लेकिन उसकी भविष्य की प्रासंगिकता अब अनिश्चित है।
