IIT Students Share Experiences of Caste Discrimination

Following the suicide of IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode, students have raised concerns about caste discrimination within the institution. Former students and researchers shared experiences of facing prejudice from both students and faculty. They allege that a lack of faculty from SC, ST, and OBC backgrounds exacerbates the issue, leaving students without adequate support. This discrimination often manifests as taunts and accusations of undeserving admission, impacting the mental well-being of students from marginalized communities.
