Amritsar Rural Police have revealed that the attack on GRP ASI Sukhchain Singh was orchestrated by Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. Three main accused have been arrested in connection with the incident. The ASI was shot in the hand by three unknown assailants on a motorcycle. The investigation was challenging due to the attack occurring in a secluded area without CCTV cameras. During evidence collection, the main shooter snatched a sub-inspector's revolver, leading to a scuffle and a gunshot that injured the accused in the leg.
