Plea to Halt Auction of Chandigarh Heritage Furniture in France

An advocate has urged the Indian government and Chandigarh Administration to intervene and stop the auction of nine heritage furniture pieces in France on October 25. The items, designed by Pierre Jeanneret, are reportedly from Chandigarh's administrative buildings. The advocate requested verification of ownership and provenance, seeking a hold on the sale pending inquiry. He also called for a mechanism to trace and recover such furniture removed from India. The auction catalogue lists items with estimates ranging from 6,000 to 45,000 euros.
