The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has formally approved the formation of a multi-member panel to conduct a Social Justice Survey. This decision aligns with the Governor's earlier announcement that the state would undertake this survey after the Union government completes its caste enumeration. The move comes amid persistent demands from various political parties for a caste census or survey. Previous attempts by the DMK and AIADMK governments to conduct such exercises faced different approaches and timelines.

मुख्यमंत्री सी. जोसेफ विजय के नेतृत्व वाली तमिलनाडु सरकार ने सामाजिक न्याय सर्वेक्षण करने के लिए एक बहु-सदस्यीय समिति के गठन को औपचारिक रूप से मंजूरी दे दी है। यह निर्णय राज्यपाल की उस घोषणा के अनुरूप है जिसमें कहा गया था कि केंद्र सरकार द्वारा जाति गणना पूरी करने के बाद राज्य यह सर्वेक्षण करेगा। यह कदम विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों द्वारा जाति जनगणना या सर्वेक्षण की लगातार मांगों के बीच आया है। डीएमके और अन्नाद्रमुक सरकारों द्वारा ऐसे अभ्यास करने के पिछले प्रयासों में अलग-अलग दृष्टिकोण और समय-सीमाएँ थीं।
