Nagpur Forest Division Focuses on Preserving Tiger Corridors

Times of India · environment

The Nagpur Forest Division is emphasizing the critical need to maintain wildlife connectivity and keep tiger corridors open. These corridors are essential for animals to move between protected areas like Pench and Navegaon-Nagzira, facilitating movement for prey, territory, and mates. Human activities such as infrastructure development and urbanization are increasingly fragmenting forests, creating barriers for wildlife. Preserving these connections is vital for maintaining genetic diversity within populations and ensuring the health of ecosystems. The division is also engaging young people through awareness programs and competitions to promote conservation efforts.
