He has now returned to India and is a professor at IIT Kanpur, researching the neural circuits of mosquito brains. His lab studies how mosquitoes' brains process smells, distinguishing between attractive human scents and repellent creams. This research uses advanced techniques like electrophysiology and computational modelling to understand insect behaviour.

नितिन गुप्ता, जिन्होंने 2000 में आईआईटी-जेईई में ऑल इंडिया रैंक 1 हासिल की थी, 2004 में आईआईटी कानपुर से ग्रेजुएट हुए और बाद में University of California में रिसर्च की। अब वे भारत लौट आए हैं और आईआईटी कानपुर में प्रोफेसर हैं, जो मच्छर के दिमाग के न्यूरल सर्किट पर रिसर्च कर रहे हैं। उनकी लैब यह अध्ययन करती है कि मच्छरों का दिमाग गंध को कैसे प्रोसेस करता है, इंसानों की आकर्षक गंधों और रिपेलेंट क्रीमों के बीच अंतर कैसे करता है। यह रिसर्च कीड़ों के व्यवहार को समझने के लिए इलेक्ट्रोफिजियोलॉजी और कम्प्यूटेशनल मॉडलिंग जैसी एडवांस्ड तकनीकों का उपयोग करती है।
