India Faces Hidden Micronutrient Gaps Despite Adequate Food Intake
HT - Lifestyle · lifestyle
Many Indians mistakenly believe eating enough ensures adequate nutrition, but this is not always true. Dr. Sonali Gokhalay highlights that India faces a significant burden of anemia and micronutrient deficiencies, even among those with seemingly balanced diets. National surveys reveal high rates of anemia in women and deficiencies in Vitamin D, B12, and iron among adolescents. These hidden gaps can lead to fatigue, reduced work capacity, and poor concentration, symptoms often misattributed to lifestyle factors.
