Rescuers Find Dog Palakitik Alive After Taal Volcano Eruption

In January 2020, Taal Volcano erupted in the Philippines, forcing thousands to evacuate and transforming the landscape with ash. Amidst the destruction, a community dog named Palakitik was found alive on Volcano Island by an animal rescue team. Rescuers from PETA Asia, who knew the dog from previous visits, called her name from their boat, and she ran through the ash to greet them. Palakitik, who was dehydrated and had eye problems, was rescued and taken for veterinary care.
