College Teachers Demand Election Duty Aligned With Pay Scale and Status

Rajasthan University and College Teachers’ Association (RUCTA) has urged the State Election Commission to assign election duties to college teachers that match their designation, pay scale, and status. RUCTA stated that appointing professors as returning or polling officers goes against Election Commission guidelines, suggesting they should instead be zonal or sector magistrates. The association highlighted that lower-level officials harass them during these duties, impacting their dignity. The SEC secretary responded that returning officers are gazetted posts and assignments depend on requirements and staff availability.

राजस्थान यूनिवर्सिटी एंड कॉलेज टीचर्स एसोसिएशन (RUCTA) ने राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग से कहा है कि कॉलेज शिक्षकों को उनके पद, वेतनमान और हैसियत के हिसाब से चुनाव ड्यूटी दी जाए। RUCTA ने कहा कि प्रोफेसरों को रिटर्निंग या पोलिंग ऑफिसर बनाना निर्वाचन आयोग के नियमों के खिलाफ है, और उन्हें ज़ोनल या सेक्टर मजिस्ट्रेट बनाया जाना चाहिए। एसोसिएशन ने बताया कि इन ड्यूटी के दौरान निचले स्तर के अधिकारी उन्हें परेशान करते हैं, जिससे उनकी गरिमा को ठेस पहुँचती है। SEC सचिव ने जवाब दिया कि रिटर्निंग ऑफिसर गजटेड पोस्ट होते हैं और ड्यूटी ज़रूरत और स्टाफ की उपलब्धता के हिसाब से दी जाती है।
