The National Investigation Agency (NIA) plans to seek the Centre's permission to send a team to the UAE to record the statement of Indian pilot Smit Machchhar. Machchhar was attacked by the co-pilot during an attempted hijacking of Flydubai flight FZ-1073. The NIA has filed a case to investigate a larger conspiracy behind the incident, invoking the Anti-Hijacking Act and UAPA. The agency also aims to interact with local investigators and potentially question the arrested Omani co-pilot. Machchhar is currently receiving hospital treatment in the UAE.

NIA UAE
