Indonesia's Sky Turns Orange Due To Wildfire Smoke

Times of India · environment

Parts of Indonesia are experiencing an alarming orange sky due to smoke from widespread wildfires. This haze, caused by smoke particles scattering sunlight, has reduced visibility and made breathing difficult for residents, particularly in Central Kalimantan. The fires are linked to slash-and-burn farming and commercial land clearing, with some burning peatlands proving difficult to extinguish. The Indonesian government has suspended operating licenses for 26 companies and is investigating others, with President Prabowo Subianto calling it a top priority.
