Screen Time Linked To Shallow Breathing, Pulmonologist Explains Indirect Connection

HT - Lifestyle · lifestyle

Prolonged screen time can indirectly affect breathing patterns, primarily due to poor posture and inactivity, according to pulmonologist Dr. Sandeep Jain. Slouching and maintaining a forward-head position restricts the chest and diaphragm, leading to shallow breaths. While this doesn't necessarily indicate lung disease, it can impact cardiorespiratory fitness. Dr. Jain advises regular movement breaks, posture checks, and stretching to improve breathing. He also cautions against attributing serious symptoms like difficulty breathing or chronic cough solely to screen use, as these can signal underlying health issues.
