Karnataka has planned 200 additional cochlear implants for children with severe to profound hearing loss in 2026-27 under the 'Aalisu Kanda' programme. This initiative, part of the Shravan Dosh Mukta Abhiyan, aims to help eligible children develop speech, language, and communication skills. A total of 575 cochlear implant surgeries were performed in the financial year 2025-26. The procurement will be in two phases, with 75 implants to be supplied to empanelled hospitals within the next two months, followed by another 125 within three months.
