CBSE Mandates Digital Payments in Schools, Issues New Promotion Measures

Times of India · education

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed its affiliated schools to actively promote digital payments for various financial transactions. This initiative aligns with a digital payments promotion plan by the Ministry of Finance, aiming to increase access and safe usage nationwide. Schools are advised to enable options like UPI and RuPay for fees, canteens, and libraries, and consider UPI Lite for areas with poor connectivity. The board also recommends integrating the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) for fee collection and staff salaries.
