Chennai Bridges Ineffective As Narrow Link Road Faces Encroachments

Two four-lane bridges built to ease commute from Maduravoyal to Nolambur in Chennai have become ineffective. Commuters report that the link road, Nolambur Union Road, remains narrow, uneven, and suffers from encroachments by huts and shops. Widening work has stalled midway, causing traffic jams during peak hours and making the route more arduous than the original Poonamallee High Road. Corporation officials have promised to assess the area and remove encroachments, potentially offering alternative accommodation for residents.

चेन्नई में मदुरवॉयल से नोलम्बुर तक आवागमन को आसान बनाने के लिए बनाए गए दो चार-लेन पुल बेकार हो गए हैं। यात्रियों का कहना है कि लिंक रोड, नोलम्बुर यूनियन रोड, संकरी, ऊबड़-खाबड़ बनी हुई है और यहाँ झोपड़ियों और दुकानों का अतिक्रमण है। चौड़ीकरण का काम बीच में ही रुक गया है, जिससे पीक आवर्स में ट्रैफिक जाम हो जाता है और यह रास्ता मूल पूनमल्ली हाई रोड से भी ज़्यादा मुश्किल हो गया है। निगम के अधिकारियों ने इलाके का जायजा लेने और अतिक्रमण हटाने का वादा किया है, और निवासियों को वैकल्पिक आवास देने की भी पेशकश की है।
