Tennessee's prison commissioner, Frank Strada, has resigned following the failed execution of convicted murderer Christa Pike. Witnesses reported Pike was still breathing after two doses of anesthetic failed to kill her during the lethal injection procedure on Wednesday. The execution was halted, and Pike was taken to the hospital in critical condition. This marks the second botched execution in Tennessee this year. Governor Bill Lee accepted Strada's resignation, stating it was in the best interest of Tennesseans as an independent review proceeds.
