West Bengal Renames Bicycle Scheme to Sarathi

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the renaming of the Mamata-era 'Sabuj Sathi' bicycle distribution scheme to 'Sarathi'. Under the new scheme, 12.59 lakh students will receive bicycles this academic year. The government has allocated Rs 300 crore for schools under Sarathi. Adhikari also stated that scholarships would be provided to students of all faiths, not just a particular community, and that smartphone allowances for higher secondary students would be replaced by funds for learning materials.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने ममता-काल की 'सबुज साथी' साइकिल वितरण योजना का नाम बदलकर 'सारथी' करने की घोषणा की। नई योजना के तहत, इस शैक्षणिक वर्ष में 12.59 लाख छात्रों को साइकिलें मिलेंगी। सरकार ने सारथी के तहत स्कूलों के लिए 300 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए हैं। अधिकारी ने यह भी कहा कि छात्रवृत्ति सभी धर्मों के छात्रों को दी जाएगी, न कि केवल किसी विशेष समुदाय को, और उच्च माध्यमिक छात्रों के लिए स्मार्टफोन भत्ते को सीखने की सामग्री के लिए धन से बदल दिया जाएगा।
