LPU Campus Violence Erupts Over Rape Rumours

Violence and looting broke out at LPU in Phagwara, Punjab, following rumours of a student's sexual assault. Protesting students vandalised the Uni Mall, breaking shop windows and stealing laptops, mobile phones, and clothes. The university administration later stated that the rape allegations were baseless rumours. Punjab Police have formed an SIT to investigate the incident, which also saw damage to ATMs and display vehicles.
