Bengal Rebrands Sabuj Sathi Scheme to Sarathi

West Bengal's Chief Minister announced the rebranding of the Sabuj Sathi scheme to Sarathi, under which 12.59 lakh students will receive bicycles this academic year. The government has allocated ₹300 crore as a composite grant for schools under this initiative. The Chief Minister also stated that the government will provide a higher amount for higher secondary students to purchase learning materials, instead of smartphones and tablets. Additionally, NCC units will be revived in educational institutions to enhance student fitness and national safety.

पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ने 'सबुज साथी' योजना का नाम बदलकर 'सारथी' करने की घोषणा की, जिसके तहत इस शैक्षणिक वर्ष में 12.59 लाख छात्रों को साइकिलें मिलेंगी। सरकार ने इस पहल के तहत स्कूलों के लिए ₹300 करोड़ का एक संयुक्त अनुदान आवंटित किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने यह भी कहा कि सरकार उच्च माध्यमिक छात्रों को स्मार्टफोन और टैबलेट के बजाय सीखने की सामग्री खरीदने के लिए अधिक राशि प्रदान करेगी। इसके अतिरिक्त, छात्र फिटनेस और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को बढ़ाने के लिए शैक्षणिक संस्थानों में NCC इकाइयों को पुनर्जीवित किया जाएगा।
