Sudan War: Dialogue Initiative Faces Opposition Amidst Ongoing Conflict

More than three years into the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, Sudan urgently needs a political settlement. A committee of 19 public figures, chaired by Ahfad University President Qasim Badri, launched an initiative for internal dialogue, with authorities dropping charges against Sudanese abroad and granting temporary legal protections. However, the civilian coalition Sumoud and the RSF-allied Ta’sis alliance oppose the initiative, questioning its independence and potential to legitimize al-Burhan's authority.
