WHO Unable to Fully Assess Plague Situation in Russia

The World Health Organization (WHO) stated it cannot fully assess the situation regarding a suspected plague death in Russia, as reports of a second case emerged. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called for greater transparency from Russia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov downplayed concerns, calling reports "false information" and insisting only official statements should be trusted. The US has formally requested more information from Russia. Russian authorities maintain the population faces no epidemic risks.
