A Bengaluru farmer successfully challenged an income tax notice concerning large cash deposits in his bank account. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) ruled in his favour, accepting his explanation that the funds originated from selling fruits and vegetables for cash at an APMC yard. While the Income Tax Department questioned the source of funds and lack of disclosed expenses, the farmer provided land records and sales bills.
