Nepal has banned the import, sale, and distribution of Priyagold biscuits, manufactured by India's Surya Food and Agro Ltd, due to serious food safety and hygiene deficiencies. The country's Food Technology and Quality Control Department classified the biscuits as sub-standard, following similar action by India's FSSAI. FSSAI had suspended the manufacturer's license and initiated legal proceedings, citing the use of cattle feed bran and other violations. The ban aims to ensure human health security and consumer welfare in Nepal, with authorities ordering a recall of existing stocks.
